Show Comments

This goes to show when you invite people on, they may not have the same setup as us regulars. We have a phone, peoples families and general background noises that you expect to get as the general public tend to live with their families, not in a specialist studio. Having said that, none of us has studio setups! (Does it show??). You also have people’s mic’s of all different volumes and skype not letting you host more than 5 people unless you have a dual core Intel processor. *Sigh* Every day’s a school day.

Consequently it was also a mother of an episode to edit, taking 3 full evenings to cut, crop, adjust every single volume manually and find new music. On the topic of music, this week includes:

GreenHill Zone and Final Zone, intro and out from OneUpStudios. If you like their work, buy their CD!

Minibosses Super Mario Brothers cut which was used between topics in the first half of the conversation (I hope we didn’t catch too many of you putting that in there). We’ll use the full track in the future.

M.U.S.H.A. soundtrack, Offensive Overdrive by Toshiaki Sakoda between the two halves. Great 80s music: Retro is cool. We’ll again use the full theme on another occasion.

Brett intros the second half because he hadn’t been on up until that point and my throat was killing me thanks to tonsilitis. He is actually doing his end from a stadium in Ohio, I believe. Don’t hold your breath for the American national anthem though. Brett also makes my attempts at “show hosting” look like crap with his, at times, iron grip control over everybody, rather than my more liberal free for all “if you can get a word in edgeways you’re doing well” approach.

Finally we take no responsibility for factual accuracy, especially of “RAID 1 = stripe” and of “Master Sergeant”.

We’d like to thank, Fev, Frank and Atanum for their few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Cheers guys!

I haven’t had a chance to listen to this week yet, but I hope that I wasn’t the one to say Raid 1 = stripe. I fear I might have been, if so I meant 0, honest. But hey, nobody said I was smart. Though I did just fix the entire site being bold…w00t to hidden XHTML knowledge. My Web0.0 club will beat Web2.0 over the head. It’s even cooler cause it’s Wordpress that screwed it up, it wasn’t even Rich…this time. :) Even though it was his post!

Now Working In Internet Explorer

07 June 2006

A big thanks to my good friend Paul of Cymrudigidol Digital for fixing the site to work in IE. Apparently it was a rather simple problem in the end. I won’t go into detail here due to sheer embarrassment.

More Bad Site News :( (Dont Use IE!)

03 June 2006

Well, I fixed podpress, but only just downgrading it totally. We can’t upgrade it at all now since it the guy who wrote it totally re-wrote the stats stuff which iTunes and the download/listen links are associated with which seems to be incompatible with our site.

Also, Hirens been working like a dog to try and get this site working in IE, but because IE is the most useless browser (As admitted by their own tech: We know we have a lot more work to do in addressing our consistency issues with CSS and furthering our coverage of these standards) on the planet the side bar drops to the bottom. For the love of anything that is good, use Firefox. Please. Even Opera will do. If you’re somewhere which doesnt have anything else installed buy a £5 USB stick and download portable Firefox and stick it on it. Not only can you then take a better browser around with you EVERYWHERE but it will also have all your passwords, favourites and whatever else saved and you won’t leave cookies on public computers by accident. You don’t have to install anything, you don’t need admin rights, you run it straight off the USB stick. Win Win Win.

I’ve Managed To Totally Screw Up Podpress.

03 June 2006

Woo.

In my infiniate wisdom I updated it to the latest podpress (of the time, then between my downloading and updating two update revisions came out), and have managed to totally screw up ALL podcast downloads and streams. Great. So much for an early night.

EDIT: Fixed, for now.

- Richard

On a semi-related note, it has come to our attention that the site doesn’t display properly in Internet Explorer. Since we all of us use Opera and Firefox we generally can’t be bothered to fix it. So we suggest you live with the site as is or change to a browser that works.

Coming up on NBS EP7

02 June 2006

Hey everyone,

We just wanted to let you know about a trial we’re going to do for this week’s episode. Since one of our staffers is a bit under the weather, we were thinking of a way to have him talk a bit less, and we found it: an open forum.

That’s right, we’re taking live calls on Week 7. So if you want in, drop a comment or an e-mail and we’ll get you queued up. We’re not sure on all the topics yet, it’s going to be a rapid fire burst of some of this weeks big deals…we may come back to them next week for further discussion, but we want to hear what some of our listeners have to say.

We’ll be recording this week’s ep on Sunday at 3:30pm BST (10:30am EST)…so if you want on, make yourself available for an hour starting around then.
